Mother Goose

Known as the curator of fairy tales, Mother Goose is an example of The Great/Good Mother in that she nurtured and warmed the hearts of children for generations through her bedtime stories. She often appears in both goose and human form, dressed in the traditional garb of a Welsh country woman. Although she is only specifically named in one nursery rhyme, Tales of My Mother Goose, she is said to have let children ride on her back flying through the sky up to the moon. (D.J. Ashliman)
